Dream Plan Do

"Dream Plan Do" is the monthly planner for craft businesses launched by Patricia van den Akker, the Director of The Design Trust last Autumn. This will be the very first time that Patricia will be running a very practical but strategic workshop around the book's main topics and exercises. "Dream Plan Do" was created to help creatives think bigger and more strategically, then to help them set goals and share practical planning tools to get you from where you are right now to where you want to be, and then the most important thing: get you into action, overcoming your own challenges, towards creating the creative business you really want - and need! Throughout this interactive day you will be doing creative and practical exercises to work on your own creative business and practice, sometimes by yourself, sometimes with others. Patricia will introduce exercises such as the "Wheel of Business" and the "3 Key Financial Questions" to help you look at all aspects of your business, in both a strategic and practical way. You will get to know your clients in more detail and create a marketing & launch plan too for later this year. There will also be a Q&A with Patricia to ask any creative business questions you have or challenge you face. This workshop is especially aimed at creatives who want to work on the business side of their creative practice. Both new creatives and established makers and visual artists are welcome to attend, but be prepared that you will be very involved in the activities throughout the day, and there will be plenty of opportunity to network and learn from the other participants too through creative and reflective exercises.

Business Plan Workshop - Part 2

Each workshop will be split into two half day sessions on two separate dates. You are welcome to attend one or both workshops. The dates listed below are for the SECOND HALF DAY workshop. At the first half day workshop you will be lead through the main points of creating a business plan. The workshop will involve: •Defining basic financial terminology and documents •Familiarisation with a strategic business plan template •Gathering information required to prepare a business plan •Collating enterprise information for budgeting purposes At the end of this workshop you will be given prompt sheets so that you can collate your information into the template and complete in your own time. Following the first half-day workshop there will be a second half-day workshop. During this workshop you will get the chance to: •Evaluate what work has already been completed •Build on the initial research •Review and concentrate on budgeting These workshops are a great opportunity for you to complete a Strategic Business Plan and can help you access up to €1500 in funding through Farming Connect’s Advisory Service for further Technical Advice. Guest Speaker- Dean Paton Our guest speaker for the afternoon will be Dean Paton- Managing Director of Big Heritage. Dean grew up in the Wirral and began his career by running bars and pubs, later deciding to peruse his passion for a career in archaeology. Dean graduated from Chester University and then continued upon this by taking his Masters at Oxford University; during his time completing his Masters, Dean worked in a care home- it was during this time that the idea for Big Heritage was born. Dean initially started Big Heritage as a way to bring archaeology to children in socially deprived areas, explaining the history of their own towns and cities to them, something that they were able to appreciate. Big Heritage now offer more services such as working on heritage projects, community archaeology projects and taking his knowledge and skills to schools to educate and inform in a fun manor. He found that he was able to help people connect better with heritage through explaining it in different ways; after gaining support from the University of Chester, Dean was able to set up the business within an office at the Riverside Innovation Centre in Chester. The menu for our 2 course lunch is still to be advised but with the renowned food reputation of Blossoms it promises to be delicious! We hope to see you at what promises to be a fantastic event! Google Adwords Training

Business Wales, in partnership with Pro PPC, will be hosting an event in association with Google & Google Partners. The event will consist of a series of presentations with a focus on the importance of internet marketing, along with Google AdWords training on 'How to Set Up and Optimise a Google AdWords Account’. The current economic climate has left a lot of businesses struggling to stay afloat; in addition, Google has created a series of algorithms to optimise who ranks highly on its search engine. This poses as a problem for many small businesses, unable to rank against large mainstream companies who are constantly occupying this space and making it virtually impossible to compete organically using SEO. Google AdWords has become an intrinsic part of making many small and medium sized businesses successful. Round the Table Networking at Conwy Business Centre

In collaboration with the Conway Business Centre, The West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce we will be hosting what promises to be yet another fantastic ‘Round the Table’ networking event. The event is to be held at Conwy Business Centre which focuses on business growth and development. The centre is a hub for local start ups but also for existing businesses, helping them to thrive and grow within a modern and stylish environment. Guests will be provided with delicious breakfast favourites, alongside complimentary hot beverages, before being able to join in on the networking fun and promote themselves and their business to a fantastic array of new business contacts. The Round the Table networking events are a fun, lively and friendly way of getting to know fellow business-people in the local community. Each guest has a few minutes to introduce themselves and share their background before moving ‘around the table’ and getting to know each individual around their table. Guests then swap seats and tables and start all over again! Alongside the modern venue, the session also promises to be an enjoyable event whilst giving delegates the opportunity to swap contact details, meet individuals from a range of businesses and organisations and network. The highly popular ‘Ultimate Networking’ is set for a return at The Grosvenor

The West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce in partnership with The Chester Grosvenor the hugely popular ‘Ultimate Networking’ will be set to return on the 2nd October. Following its huge success last year, the format see’s guests communicating with as many people as possible in the hope of winning a fantastic prize. Working off a delegate list of all attending, guests are asked to talk and communicate with as many people as possible, exchanging signatures on delegate lists as they do so. The winner is determined by the person with the most signatures. The event is being held at the renowned fine dining establishment ‘The Grosvenor’ Boasting a 5 Star rating. Since opening its doors in 1866, The Chester Grosvenor continues to be an icon of understated style, glamour and elegance. The Chester Grosvenor is located in the heart of Chester and overlooks the famous Eastgate Clock, said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben. Round the Table Networking at Thornton Science Park

The West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce is joining together in partnership with the team at Thornton Science Park to host a Round the Table Networking Breakfast Event, held on Thursday 9th November. Thornton Science Park is now part of the University of Chester, marking the start of a new science hub for the region. With it’s cutting-edge facilities and sleek conference and seminar suites, it is a fantastic addition to the University’s ever-expanding campus. So get together and join fellow Chamber members, all whilst making great business connections. All guests in attendance will be treated to refreshments on arrival which have been generously provided by our co-hosts at Thornton Science Park. Once guests have been welcomed and enjoyed their breakfast beverages, they will make their way into the suite before the networking fun begins. Round the Table Networking is one of the Chamber’s specialty events, providing guests with the opportunity to meet plenty of people from across the region. Each table goes ’round the table’ and shares their story, before swapping seats and repeating the fun!
