Fairtrade Fortnight at NEWI 2007 |

|
North East Wales Institute (NEWI), a very active partner in the Wrexham Fairtrade Coalition had a very successful Fairtrade Fortnight. Here are some pictures from the events that took place:
- Tuesday 27 February

Cookery demonstration in the Students Union with local Celebrity Chef Dai Davies. Dai cooked with Fairtrade products with the student
budget in mind. There was plenty of banter and tasters on offer!

'20 minute tour of India' slide show presented by Kathy Homes about the Fairtrade craft projects in India.

Fairtrade Market in the Atrium of Edward LLywd Centre, Stalls selling Fairtrade clothing, jewellery, food and crafts.
Including a stall run by the pupils from St Christopher’s School who sold products from their Fairtrade shop (pictured).
- Tuesday 6 March

Fairtrade Question time evening with a cross section of panel members. We also heard from an Indian Cotton Grower, Shailesh Patel on how
Fairtrade has changed his life.
The evening ended with Mark Richardson (Wales Fairtrade Forum Co-ordinator), and Shailesh presenting EurIng Helen James (Chair of the NEWI
Sustainability Forum) with a certificate giving NEWI Fairtrade status (pictured above).

- Thursday 8 March

The Co-op gave a presentation to an audience of approximately 45 people, including an introduction to wines from South Africa
and Argentina as well as opportunities to win spot prizes of Fairtrade goods. It was so successful that they hope to plan another
evening during the Christmas period.
