I went on a trip to a Fair-trade convention at Loggerheads on March 6 2007; it was during Fair-trade fortnight (26 February – March 11).
The Fair-trade mark is a label, which appears on products, for example bananas, cereal bars, coffee and orange juice. It guarantees that
disadvantaged producers are able to get a better deal.
Last night when Mum was doing her shopping on-line, she bought some fair-trade products for me. We bought a pack of six Geo-bars.
This will make a positive change for the lives of millions of farmers in developing countries. Please will you join in and support
fair-trade? Your Mum or Dad can even visit the website at www.fairtrade.org.uk to find out more. Perhaps buy just one fair-trade
product or even make a donation.
Our school could even try to become a Fair-trade school. There are 3 schools in Wales that are already Fair trade Schools. I think
it would be a good idea because it enables pupils to make links between our lives in the UK and the lives of people in the poorest
countries of the world who produce things for us to buy. We can raise awareness, we can help people to understand why fair-trade is important.
I enjoyed going to the conference because it has made me think a lot about how we should help people in other countries.
