The Welsh Assembly Government launched the Article 33 programme, part of the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2000 - 2006.
The programme invests in the infrastructure of rural communities in East Wales and has three priorities:
- Provision of basic services.
- Renovation of villages.
- Tourism and craft activities.
