LEADER+

The LEADER Programme

LEADER is a European Community Initiative for assisting rural communities in improving the quality of life and economic prosperity in their local area.

LEADER+ is the third LEADER Programme, and is split into two Business Plans - 2002-2004 and 2004-2008. It is funded through the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF) and matched by Welsh Assembly Government.

• The first Business Plan saw over £800,000 allocated and spent on community based projects throughout rural Wrexham.

• The second Business Plan received approval in September 2004, enabling the programme to continue in rural Wrexham until 2008. This will build upon the successes of the programme achieved since 2002. The total approved value of the programme is over £1,000,000.
