The Rural Community Action programme provides the means to empower communities, providing them with the knowledge and skills which will enable them to take responsibility for the regeneration of their area.
The programme objectives are to empower communities by:
-
Facilitating communities to identify both their individual and common needs and aspirations, and in formulating strategies to address such needs.
-
Developing an inclusive mechanism for local communities and strategic partners to work together, to reduce barriers and to encourage complementary and mutually beneficial actions.
-
Facilitating and encouraging networking and the transfer of best practice within and between communities.
-
Developing the skills, abilities and confidence of individuals and groups within communities.
-
Fostering entrepreneurship and economic sustainability in communities.
Action Planinng
Action Planning is the ideal way for a community to spell out their needs and requirements. During a 'Visioning Event' a list of projects is drawn up and voted on (please see full report) and the most popular go into an 'Action Plan' for community members to tick off projects one by one.
You will find below, the ongoing Action Plans developed with residents of the Ceiriog Valley.

The Welsh Assembly Government's Rural Community Action programme provides people across Rural Wales with better access to support and funding for local regeneration projects.
Facilitated and managed by the Welsh Development Agency on behalf of the Assembly Government, RCA partnerships have been set up throughout Wales to offer help and advice on a range of projects which may attract funding or other support. Each partnership has produced a business plan based on projects identified by the communities themselves.
