 There are a large number of community buildings in Wrexham County Borough and many are struggling to sustain themselves financially and raise the funds for renovation works. This project will take a broad look at the stock of community buildings in the area and compare it to the needs of the local communities to identify where there are any problems or opportunities.
Following this primary research a community buildings strategy will be produced for the Wrexham area. The report will include the identification of case studies from Great Britain, Europe and elsewhere providing clear examples of successful projects that can be adopted locally. It will also look at how community buildings can generate new income in the future. Consultants have been appointed to carry out this research which will be completed by the end of 2005.
There will also be financial support for exemplar projects that use innovative and sustainable approaches that can lead the way in rural areas of Wrexham.
