Euryl was born and spent her childhood in the Rhondda Valley. She qualified in painting and drawing at Birmingham College of Art, became a silver medal winner at the Royal Academy Schools in London and then won a scholarship to study in Rome.
She has a fascination for the human body, particularly voluptuous women and masculine men, and loves illustrating the imaginary lives of her vital, exuberant characters. Her work reveals her originality, an individuality independent of any conscious influence, a passion for life, people and fun.
Although her principal media are painting and drawing, this exhibition consists of the highly distinctive, brightly coloured figurative textiles on which she has recently concentrated. These incorporate painting as well as stitch-work. They depict contemporary life as well as the artist”s childhood in Wales and make social comment.
Euryl has taught painting and drawing at Rochdale and Shrewsbury Colleges of Art. She sells her work, exhibits, gives day classes and lectures extensively throughout the West Midlands area.
