Free Website for Charities and Community Groups

As part of its efforts to help everyone benefit from improved communications, BT has teamed up with ik.com to make free, simple-to-build websites available for UK charities and community groups. As a result of a previous offer to all UK schools, more than 4,000 have already created some excellent new sites - all developed and maintained by pupils and teachers.

BT and ik.com are now offering this opportunity to charities and communities groups throughout the UK. If you are a charity or a community group who would like and benefit from a free website go to www.btck.co.uk/, click the SiteBuilder button and follow the on-screen instructions. Please show the reference of BTR-W, this will help BT track registrations and take up of this offer in Wales.

You are then in control and can choose your own look and design from a range of style options. You can add the content you want, including importing your own documents and pictures to the site from your home, office, library or anywhere with an Internet
connection.

Features of this package include:

  • welcome page enquiry facility
  • wide choice of graphic styles
  • capacity to add up to 250 pages
  • capacity to add up to 250 images
  • searchable documents section
  • searchable vacancies section
  • links section
  • guestbook facility
  • multimedia gallery
  • news section
  • calendar section
  • free technical support by phone & email

Your web address will be available within minutes of initial site creation. You will be sent a confirmation email within 24 hours. There is no cost to having a site. But what's the cost of not having one?

Please note all new registrations are checked by IK.com for obvious 'unsuitability'. The user builds their site and uploads content. Regular checks are made to check organisation (not for profit) and content. BT receives monthly reports on numbers of sites, regions etc. BT will be following up with some to develop case study material and to develop some regional publicity.
