How your doctor can help
Let your GP know you carry out a caring role
When your GP recognises you are a Carer they can help in a number of practical ways
- Health checks for you – how do you feel? Do you worry about the health of the person you care for or/ and your own health?
- Ask for appointments that fit in with your caring role - Do you find it difficult to arrange or get to appointments?
- Ask your pharmacist how they can help – arranging prescriptions and offering advice about health conditions and their treatment
- Your GP should be able to help you get advice and training on procedures to help the person you care for, including lifting the person you care for and providing the practical support required to manage their condition
