Where to find us
The
main Open Learning Centre is situated at Wrexham Library. There are smaller
collections of Open Learning materials at Chirk and Rhos libraries. Chirk
Library is also home to our Learndirect centre.
Open learning packs cover such subjects as:
- Learning to use a computer
- Using the Internet
- Business and Management skills
- Languages
- Childcare
- Qualification-based courses e.g. GCSE
Each Open Learning pack is a complete unit with all you need for successful
study. Contents may include workbooks, cassettes, videos or computer software.
What's the catch?
There isn't one! All packs can be borrowed free of charge and can be
kept for three months at a time.
Computers are available at all libraries for you to use free of charge.
There's more!
We also have information about local and national courses and contact
details for local education providers. A partnership with local colleges
enables us to make arrangements for you to obtain further guidance, tutor
support or gain qualifications.
Our staff are happy to help and advise on the selection and use of materials.
Learndirect
Learndirect is available at Chirk Library and is a new way of learning
- courses are delivered over the Internet and can be accessed whenever
the library is open. The subjects covered by these courses include Information
Technology, Business and Management and Basic Skills, and new courses
are being added all the time. For further details, please contact Chirk
Library on 01691 772344. Remember, you can study any Learndirect course
at your local library.
Computer Clubs

The aim of the club is to improve the children's I.T. skills and to show the children the many fun things that can be done on computers.
Spaces are limited so booking is advisable. Weekly sessions are held during the school holidays.
