Christmas Tree Decoration Exchange Project

What is it?

The Christmas Tree Decoration Exchange runs each year connecting primary schools across the EU whereby pupils make decorations and exchange them with other schools in other countries. Schools also produce information on how Christmas is celebrated in their country. This can be in the form of a booklet, a presentation, a video or a CD.

Taking part helps children to learn about other cultures, other countries, languages and what it means to be a European citizen.  Schools display the decorations they receive on their tree and some also organise additional activities around the exchange such as learning about other countries in general. The exchange is co-ordinated by Europe Direct Wrexham.

How to take part?

To participate you must contact your local Europe Direct Information Centre (EDIC). In June/July each year, we send an invitation out to all EDICs in the European Union along with full details of how to participate.  Each EDIC can choose whether or not to take part in the project. Participating EDICs will advertise the opportunity to schools in their region soon afterwards or in the following September each year along with full details on how the exchange works and how to get involved.

Schools in Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire

All primary schools across Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire will be sent details on how to participate in June / July. This will be sent to the schools general email address.  If you work for a school in these counties and you would like to receive news of the next exchange to your personal e-mail address, please get in touch.  Places are limited and get filled very quickly.

Schools in the UK and EU

If you live in another area of the UK or elsewhere in the European Union and would like to take part in the next exchange, please make contact with your local Europe Direct Information Centre to ask them if they will be participating.

If your local EDIC wants any further details please ask them to contact us. If your local EDIC is not participating or there isn’t one close to you please contact us so we can try to find a solution for you.
