The Mobile Library Service

Our mobile library provides a very popular service to those areas of the county borough which are not within easy reach of a branch library. It visits over 70 locations once every three weeks and carries an extensive, regularly updated, range of fiction, non-fiction (including popular bestsellers), large print, and audio books for both adults and children.

A lift is available on the vehicle for easy access for those who require it.

To join – you will need to complete a simple form and bring proof of identification. If you have already joined at another library within the county there is no need to re-join – just bring your current library card.

The free reservation service gives you access to any item in stock in our libraries.  You can request items through the mobile library staff or go to the library catalogue and do it on line (you will need a PIN number to do this)

To find out when the mobile library is in your area view the mobile library routes:

If the mobile library has to cancel stops for some reason (e.g. vehicle breakdown, severe weather), the staff will do their best to contact you or a contact person in the community.

If you would like to help by becoming a contact person please let the library staff know.
