Basic Food Hygiene Courses

Food Safety

The incidents of food poisoning continues to rise and the Food Safety Section at the Public Protection Department within Wrexham County Borough Council has for many years delivered basic food hygiene courses to the food industry.

Following a successful pilot scheme involving three secondary schools the Wrexham Local Health Alliance has agreed funding of £2,500, which will ensure the provision of basic food hygiene courses to groups of pupils in years 10 & 11 in all of the County’s senior schools. In addition to receiving a nationally recognised vocational qualification as a heath promotion exercise the children will also be made aware of all the key issues regarding the safe handling of food.
