Neurological Alliance Wrexham

A local forum has been established for people who have neurological issues. The group meets monthly and is called Neurological Alliance Wrexham (NAW).

Members represent service users who have a wide range of neurological conditions including Parkinsons Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Spina Bifida, Eplilepsy, Encephalitis, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury, Stroke and Migraine.

NAW was established because people who have neurological issues feel that they have increased difficulty in accessing the services they need. The forum provides an opportunity for service users to meet with Social Services and Local Health Board Commissioning Officers to discuss their needs and work towards improving local service provision.

NAW is affiliated to the Wales Neurological Alliance and has inspired the formation of several similar forums across Mid and North Wales.

On September 6th 2007 members of the forum will give a presentation to local GPs as part of a Continuing Professional Development training at the Medical Institute – the first time that service users have been invited to the event.

Forum meetings take place at the Guildhall, Wrexham and are open to anyone who has an interest in neurological issues. The next meetings are at 11am on:

  • September 3rd 2007
  • October 5th 2007
  • November 5th 2007
  • November 30th 2007 and
  • January 7th 2008
