Wrexham Community Safety Partnership

What It Is

Wrexham Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is a statutory organisation that brings together representatives of key agencies to work together to tackle and reduce local levels of crime and disorder.

Working Together to Make Wrexham a Safe Place to Live, Work and Visit

Levels of crime in Wrexham are steadily reducing. Recorded crime in Wrexham County Borough has fallen by 26% compared to 2002 levels.

The Police and Council work together with other public organisations and the voluntary sector as the Community Safety Partnership. They are committed to reducing crime and disorder and improving community safety across the County Borough.

Our Priorities 2010/11

We listen to local views through neighbourhood policing panels, citizens panels and using information from partners.

Our aims are to:

  • Reduce violent crime including domestic and sexual violence
  • Reduce burglary, theft and other such crimes
  • Tackle anti-social behaviour
  • Reduce re-offending by working with agencies that manage offenders
  • Reduce the harm that substance misuse causes to communities, families and individuals
  • Tackle hate related crime and disorder and encourage reporting
  • Provide reassurance and increase public confidence

A Strong Partnership

We are committed to listening to the needs of communities and responding in a positive manner. Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) work with neighbourhood policing teams across the area to provide high visibility and accessibility to the public and achieve safe and secure neighbourhoods. The Council’s Executive Board has agreed to financially contribute to the scheme over the next three years.

A recent public confidence survey undertaken by North Wales Police revealed that a higher percentage of residents in Wrexham (70%) agreed the police and local council deal with crime and anti-social behaviour in the County Borough effectively.
