The People’s Voice is the citizen consultation panel for the Council and Wrexham Local Health Board. It provides a panel of 800 people who reflect a cross-section of the local population and agree to complete a detailed survey three times a year. This allows us to compile detailed information on local people’s priorities and opinions. Increasingly, we can also compare current findings against previous results, to show trends and changes in people’s opinions over time.
To ensure that the opinions of the panel can most accurately reflect the opinions of everyone in Wrexham County Borough, responses are weighted to match the characteristics of the population on key variables such as age, gender, employment status and area of residence. This prevents the views of any particular group from being over or under represented.
As useful as the People’s Voice is, it is not the only way in which the Council consults and surveys local opinion. We use different methods and approaches that are appropriate to the target audience and the topic in question. It is also important to note that survey and consultation results are not used in isolation, but understood in the context of all the available information.
