Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2011

The Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006

The introduction of the above regulations requires each Council to carry out a review of its Polling Districts and Polling Places on a regular four-yearly cycle.  The second such review must be completed by 31 December 2011.

Wrexham County Borough Council therefore intends to commence a review in the County Borough with a formal consultation period beginning on 15th July 2011.

Any elector in the County Borough may make representations as to whether they consider their current polling facilities to be reasonable and practicable. Representations will be sought from the Returning Officer for the two parliamentary constituencies, political parties, local councillors and community Councils.

The Returning Officer’s representations will be available for comment during this consultation.

The Council is particularly interested to hear from persons or groups with expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability. The Council’s Equalities Manager will be consulted.

It is important that any persons or bodies making representations should give alternative more accessible places that may be used as polling places. To assist in writing your submission a submission form can be downloaded, and the situation of all polling places can be located by accessing the interactive mapping system.

All representations must be received by Friday 30 September 2011.  Please be aware that under regulations that govern the review of polling districts and polling places, all submissions and related correspondence will be published on completion of this review.
