Wrexham County Borough Council are committed to assisting older people to live independently; if we are successful in doing things in this area then more older people will be able to stay in their homes for longer, and older people will tell us they were able to get the advice, support and care they needed (Council Plan, Part 1 2009-2012).

Extra Care Housing is one way that we are aiming to do this. The introduction of Extra Care Housing to the Borough will see state of the art one and two bedroom apartments to rent or purchase (long term leasehold) set amongst a number of facilities aimed at helping people live independently and remain part of their communities.
We are currently developing our first scheme, Plas Telford, for older people (over 55) of Wrexham in partnership with Clwyd Alyn Housing Association ready for autumn 2011.
