Extra Care Housing

Live an independent lifestyle with care and support.

What is Extra Care Housing?

Extra Care Housing is an innovative concept, offering you the unique combination of an independent lifestyle backed up by on-site domiciliary care and support as you need it. This will provide you with peace of mind now and for the future.

As the population lives longer and healthier lives, we have to get used to planning for a longer independent future.

Extra Care Housing offers you the opportunity to live in your own apartment, safe in the knowledge that if you become more dependent help and support is right on your doorstep. Potentially this will allow you to lead a more enriched life, where many support, care and housing amenities are drawn together in one complex.

There is currently one Extra Care Scheme in Wrexham – Plas Telford. A new scheme is being developed - Maes y Dderwen on Grosvenor Road, Wrexham which will open in spring 2018. Maes y Dderwen is a scheme for people aged 60 years and over and is being developed by Tŷ Glas Housing Society, part of the Pennaf Housing Group, in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council and the Welsh Government. The development will be jointly funded through a combination of grants from the Vibrant and Viable Places fund (VVP) and Social Housing Grant (SHG) from the Welsh Government, and by Private Finance provided by Tŷ Glas Housing Society.
