The aim of this grant is to enable minor (emergency) repairs and emergency holding measures to be carried out with the minimum of bureaucracy.
The works involved will be outside the remit of the Handyperson Service.
It is envisaged that this grant will cover works that are required to be carried out within 14 days of referral due to Health & Safety or Security reasons.
This criteria for eligibility for this grant are the same as per the Home Repair Assistance Grant.
The policy is based on the use of multiple contractors employed on a single job basis at previously agreed rates.
The system used allows the Care & Repair Technical Officer the ability to reasonably check the time of the contractor on site and the nett cost of materials against any invoice submitted.
Suitable contractors from the Agency’s current list of Approved Contractors will be invited to join the scheme based on their ability to respond to urgent requests to carry out work for clients at the Agency’s pre-agreed rates.
The value of this work will not exceed £400 (to be reviewed on an annual basis) plus VAT at 17.5% and Agency Fees at 10%. If the emergency works are likely to exceed the above, agreement to proceed will be sought from Wrexham County Borough Council.
