Tenancy Support Service

Do you live in Council Accommodation? Need help to manage your home?

The Tenancy Support Service can help.

If you’re moving to a new council home – or you’re a tenant already and you feel you are not coping well on your own – we can give a helping hand.

The Tenancy Support Service can give you the help you need to live an independent life.

What can the Tenancy Support Service do?

We can assist you to set up and run your home well by turning on gas, electricity and water. Finding furniture, sorting out rent and bills, advice on managing financial affairs and claiming benefits. Advising on insurance and security information and keeping to the tenancy agreement.

Will you help me find my way around if I’m new to the area?

Yes we will advise you on how to find shops and services, looking for job opportunities or training courses and making use of you leisure time.

Can a tenancy support worker advise me on more specialist assistance?

No but through talking about problems they will advise you on how to get expert advice on things like debt, mental health, drugs and alcohol, contacting Social Services or other organisations.

What happens next?

(All referrals will be subject to assessment and managerial approval).

Complete the self-referral form online or contact your local housing office.

Tenancy Support Worker advising a tenantA support worker will make contact with you and arrange to visit. They will spend time talking through any problems with you. They will then agree a ‘support plan’ that tells you what to expect and how often they will visit.

Our aim is to help you get on your feet and live independently. In time you may not need us any more but there will always be an open door if you feel the need for help in the future.

If you’re interested and would like further information please complete the self- referral form or contact the Tenancy Support Co-ordinator, on 01978 315439.
