Public Questions at Meetings of the Council
The Council determines the policy framework within which the Executive
Board operates. The broad functions of the Council are as follows:-

Appoint the Executive Board

Make appointments to Committees and outside bodies (excluding those
delegated to the Executive Board for determination)

Determine the remit and terms of reference of Committees

Adopt the Standing Orders for the Council

Make arrangements for the appointment of the Head of the Paid Service
and consider matters relating to any misconduct

Approve the Council Tax rate
-
Elect the Mayor

Appoint the Leader of the council

Determine the policy framework for the Council by approving the major
strategic plans listed below -
