Public Questions at Meetings of the Council
The Council determines the policy framework within which the Executive Board operates. The broad functions of the Council are as follows:-
Appoint the Executive Board
Make appointments to Committees and outside bodies (excluding those delegated to the Executive Board for determination)
Determine the remit and terms of reference of Committees
Adopt the Standing Orders for the Council
Make arrangements for the appointment of the Head of the Paid Service and consider matters relating to any misconduct
Approve the Council Tax rate
Appoint the Leader of the council (May 2011 - Councillor Ron Davies)
Determine the policy framework for the Council by approving the major strategic plans listed below -
Corporate Strategy Statement
Community Plan (requirement under Best Value)
Unitary Development Plan
Housing Strategic and Operational Plan
Children's Services Plan
Social Care Plan
Educational Strategic Plan
Economic Development Strategy
Integrated Transport Strategy
