The issue of sandbags by Wrexham County Borough Council should not be relied upon as a means of flood protection. Property owners are strongly urged to consider the risk of flooding to their property in advance and take appropriate measures to manage that risk.
Sandbags are difficult to handle and are limited in their effectiveness at keeping water out of a property. Wrexham County Borough Council strongly encourages the use of purpose-made flood protection products such as flood boards, non-return valves and air-brick covers.
Wrexham County Borough Council holds limited stocks of sandbags for use by the public. Supply is limited during a flooding event or when a flood event is predicted.
To request sandbags, call the contact centre on 01978 298989.
Other sources of sandbags
Sandbags may also be available for purchase from hardware stores or builders merchants.
Disposal of Sandbags
Sandbags can be disposed of Via Wrexham County Borough Council’s three Household & Waste Recycling Centres; they would need to be placed in the rubble skip. WCBC staff would be happy to assist by splitting the bags first.
