  • Basic services for the rural economy and population - this measure will support community led projects that widen access to mainstream services.
  • Renovation and development of villages and protection and conservation of rural heritage - this measure will support investment in community proposals.

Encouragement for tourist and craft activities - this measure will support community led projects that develop tourist and craft activities appropriate to the locality that provide a high value return or extend the tourist season.

Match Funding

European Structural funds will not pay for the entire costs of a project. The Objective 3 ESF will contribute a maximum of 45% of the costs, the balance is called Match Funding. This can come from a other services, public and private, however there has to be a minimum of 10% of the total costs from the public sector.

Match Funding can come in two forms - cash or 'in-kind' contribution. In kind match funding is where an organisation or individual provides a service, or product, in lieu of payment of cash e.g. time spent by staff on a project, rent for premises etc. Volunteer time can also be used for match funding.
