Application Process

Stage 1 – Expression of Interest

Applicants are invited to submit Expression of Interest Forms

The Expression of Interest is the start of the application process and is designed to give applications a chance to work with the Secretariat to develop their project. It is not mandatory but can be useful in ensuring that your project fits the criteria of the relevant Priority and Measure and that there is enough money available prior to progressing to proforma stage.

Stage 2 – Application Process

Applicants are invited to submit a proforma application form to the Wrexham Objective 3 Secretariat by the closing date of the round. You can alternatively request the proforma application form by email/telephone at our How to Contact Us page.

Stage 3 – Appraisal Panel

Applications are presented to the Objective 3 Appraisal Panel. The panel prioritise projects against the indicative financial resources available for commitment under the current call on the basis of an objective assessment of how each project fits into the Action Plan taking account of the appraising teams comments on the high, medium and low ranking each project has received.

  • Chair – Objective 3 Partnership Secretariat
  • Members – Appraisal Team comprising of members from Public, Private and Voluntary Sectors.
  • Moderator – WEFO/Secretariat/Partnership

No Member of the Panel is allowed to speak in support of a project for which he or she has a direct or indirect involvement.

Stage 4 – Partnership Board

A list of projects prioritised for support by the Local Assessment Panel is presented to the Cardiff European Partnership Management Board for approval.

Stage 5 – Approved Projects

Details of all projects which have been prioritised by the Partnership are passed to WEFO. WEFO issue full application forms to projects prioritised for support by the Partnership and checks all submitted forms against a ‘quality threshold’. Letters of approval are then issued by WEFO to all projects that pass this threshold.

Approved projects can be found on the Approved Projects page.
