European Funding Overview

There are a number of different types of European Funding available for a range of purposes across the County Borough of Wrexham.

The majority of funds available from the European Union are known as Structural Funds. These funds provide grant aid for projects that work towards the economic regeneration of the Borough. Three structural funds which will benefit the Wrexham Borough are:

European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

ERDF is aimed at reducing regional imbalance and assisting with projects, which require capital investment in new buildings and community facilities etc.

European Social Fund (ESF)

This fund is primarily concerned with investment in people with the aim of improving the knowledge and skills of individuals to enhance employment prospects or obtain more skilled employment. It also addresses Equal opportunities and promoting social inclusion. It will therefore fund training courses, basic skills programmes etc.

European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF)

This fund is available to support agricultural markets, products, process and development. In Wrexham one of the themes is making the best use of natural and cultural resources.
