Wrexham County Borough Councils’ constitution sets out how the Council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people.
Part 6 of the constitution relates to elected members and clearly defines the criteria for claiming expenses. The rules are strict. Guidance notes are issued to all elected members.

Members may claim the following. Reimbursement will only be made if the claim is accompanied by actual receipts (photocopies will not be accepted.)
The cost of meals within the County Borough will not be reimbursed.
Day Subsistence - payable for absences of more than 4 hours outside the County Borough area
Overnight Subsistence - the maximum rate allows for the reimbursement of accommodation costs, meals and other expenses in a 24 hour period.
