A special exhibition to mark the 40th anniversary of Wrexham’s twinning relationship with Markischer Kreis is to be held at Oriel Wrecsam.
The Time/Amser/Zeit/Czas exhibition includes work by by artists from each of Wrexham’s twinned regions, Raciborz, Poland and Elbe Elster, Germany. It will feature work from painting, film, photography, print, installation and sculpture.
There will also be an Artist Talk on 9th September by Artists Kurt Kornmann, Chris Oakley and Tim Pugh who will discuss their work and the exhibition.
A full colour catalogue along with a range of events and workshops to complement this exhibition will also be available.
The exhibition kicks off an action-packed autumn schedule at Oreil Wrecsam, including the Big Draw workshops. The free-drop in sessions run throughout October and encourage people to use their imagination to create futuristic drawings.
The workshops are suitable for all although children under 8 need to be accompanied by an adult. The workshops run form 3-5pm on Tuesday 5th, 12th and 19 October and Friday 1st, 8th and 15th October.
On Mondays throughout the Exhibition period there will be taster evening events for adults offering a chance to try a variety of creative techniques/medias. Booking is recommended. The first session is free and further sessions are £3.00 and £2.00 for concessions.
On Monday 4th October between 5 and 7pm artist Chris Oakley will lead a film/animation inspired workshop "Take Time" with his own film from the exhibition as inspiration.
On Monday 1st November, Environmental Artist Tim Pugh will deliver the session "Once Upon a Time" using his work in the exhibition as a starting point. Tim will be offering his workshop bilingually in English and Welsh for the benefit of any Welsh speakers or learners.
