Bin Change Update

Wrexham Council are reporting good progress with the bin collection changes following a round review that has seen 60% of households change their bin day. Next week all households are being asked to check their new calendar for details of which bin will be collected. Anyone who hasn't received a new calendar should contact the Pride in Your Streets team on 01978 29 89 89.

Overall, the change has gone well with the majority of residents putting the correct bin out on the day that was identified on their bin sticker. Next week residents are being asked to check their calendars as this will indicate which bin will be collected because in some areas the black bin will be collected again before the familiar alternate collection begins to take place.

If you are unsure what bin to put out you can contact the Pride in Your Streets number on 01978 298989 or check details on Wrexham Council's website www.wrexham.gov.uk/streets

Cllr David Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment, said:

"We are pleased with the progress made this week and residents have taken on board the message to check their new day. Over the coming weeks our crews will become more familiar with the new routes they are operating and the efficiency of the service will improve. There are long term benefits to the service by reducing 1,000 miles a fortnight, saving fuel and reducing our carbon footprint as well as planning for the next few years."

John Bradbury Chief Environment Officer said:

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff and residents for helping in the major changeover and we hope to get back to a normal service very soon.
