On Saturday June 6th environmental artist Lesley Martin will be at Nant Mill Visitor Centre to celebrate the grand opening of the new BBC’s Breathing Places Wildlife Garden.
BBC’s Breathing Places initiative aims at getting communities friendlier with wildlife and is funded by the Big Lottery. To date £8.5 million, across Britain has been invested into green space from scrubland to city parks and wasteland to woodland.
Coedpoeth Community Council received £10,000 from the lottery fund to help them develop their garden which has been named ‘Nant Mill’s Breathing Place’, which has a pond and an array of wild flowers.
Lesley will also be hosting a workshop teaching children to make willow butterflies between 11.00am and 4.00pm and will be taking part in a walk around the mill’s grounds to celebrate the opening of the garden.
Nant Mill is located on the Clywedog Trail, which winds for 6.5 miles through glorious countryside from Minera Lead Mines, through Nant Wood and Plas Power Wood, where Offa's Dyke can be seen, passed the Bersham Iron Works and Heritage Centre, the impressive Erddig Estate and on to King's Mill in Wrexham.
The park is open all your round, with the visitor centre open 10.30am to 4.30pm Easter to September and weekends only October through to Easter.
