Work Commences on new Cinema Building

Following the announcement that the Odeon Cinema is the latest business to sign up to the Eagles Meadow development, work is to commence on the additional steel framework for the building.

The cinema will open in 2009, after the remainder of the development opens in September 2008. The work needs to start immediately in order that the remainder of the development is not delayed and so that the adjacent businesses, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, have time to complete their fit-out prior to opening.

To enable the works to be carried out, a large crane needs to be erected near to the new link road that runs adjacent to the development, between Salop Road and Smithfield Road. The erection of this crane will require the new link road to be closed for 2 days.

The closure will come into force at 10.00a.m. on Thursday 2 August and is due to reopen at 4.00p.m. on Friday 3 August. For the duration of the closure, traffic travelling into Wrexham along the A525 Salop Road or A5152 Ruabon Road will be diverted via the A5152 Inner Ring Road. This route will be signed accordingly. Access will be maintained as far as Mount Street, Rivulet Road and Caia Road, which are not affected by the closure. Traffic management personnel will be stationed at strategic positions to assist motorists to find their destination.
