Cladding on Council Homes

In light of the recent tragic events at Grenfell Tower in London, Wrexham County Borough Council has received a number of enquiries regarding the installation of External Wall Insulation (EWI) to properties across the County Borough.

The cladding used to refurbish Grenfell Tower was a ventilated rainscreen system and not an insulated render/brick slip system used by the Council.

All EWI systems used by the Council have been subjected to in depth testing, including fire testing, through the BBA (British Board of Agrément) and the BRE (British Research Establishment) and comply with British Standards and current Building Regulations. It is for these reasons that the Council has used these materials
