Dinosaurs in Your Garden

Prehistoric beasts will be coming to life as part of ‘Dinosaurs in Your Garden’ exhibition at Wrexham County Borough Museum.

This touring exhibition from the Department of Geology at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales explores the links between dinosaurs and modern birds. Back in the nineteenth century in southern Germany, geologists discovered fossils of a bird-like dinosaur. Since then further fossil finds have revealed that the first birds evolved as early as 150 million years ago. Perhaps even more surprising, Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Theropod (a dinosaur that walked on its back legs) and surely the scariest dinosaur of all, was one of the ancestors of our modern birds!

The exhibition features dinosaur fossils from the geological collections of the National Museum in Cardiff and birds from the natural history collections of the Grosvenor Museum in Chester.

Accompanying the exhibition are a series of activities for families including a Dinosaur Discoverers activity booklet, a chance to make a model Tyrannosaurus Rex or a model Archaeopteryx (the earliest known bird), and Dinosaur ID challenge for experts!

The Dinosaurs In Your Garden exhibition is on show in Wrexham as part of the Cyfoeth Cymru Gyfan ~ Sharing Treasures scheme.

Normal opening hours apply. Admission free.
