Football coaching course with a twist comes to Wrexham

Wrexham will be hosting a football coaching course with a difference on Sunday September 5th.

Clywedog Sports Centre will be running The Football Association of Wales (FAW) Level One Football Coaching Course exclusively for refugees based in the county borough. The course is being run by Mark Roberts, Wrexham Council's Football Development Officer in association with the Wrexham branch of the Welsh Refugee Council.

10 refugees will take part in a course, which is specifically tailored to their needs. All course resources will be translated into the participants native language and a visual translator will also be present on the the day.

The course aims to provide a basic introduction to the organisation of football practices in a fun, safe environment with an emphasis on skill development.

The introduction of the course comes after a hugely successful football tournament organised earlier this year to coincide with Refugee Week.

The tournament consisted of Five 5 a-side teams including the Diversity Football Team which is supported by Refugee Diversity Wrexham, Wrexham Council and North Wales Police and local Football Development Officer Mark Roberts.

Mark Roberts, Wrexham's Football Development Officer said:

"The course is a great opportunity for more individuals within Wrexham to take part within a tailored Level One Football Course. We are at a stage where football has become a global game and the more information and experiences we can give and feed into grassroors football, the greater learning outcomes we will achieve, especially within North East Wales."
