Five of Wrexham County Borough Council's country parks, Ty Mawr, Alyn Waters, Nant Mill, Bellevue and Ponciau Banks Park, have retained their prestigious Green Flag Award.
Cllr Bob Dutton, Lead Member for Environment, said:
"This is excellent news and would not have been possible without the hard work of staff and the very active Friends of the Parks Groups. Congratulations to them all. In Wrexham we are extremely fortunate to have such stunning country parks within a few minutes drive of most communities and I would encourage everyone during the coming months to take a look for themselves at what's available for them to enjoy completely free of charge."
Green Flags are nationally recognised standards awarded to the best green spaces in the country. Wrexham received its first Green Flag Award in 2005 when Ty Mawr and Bellevue Park reached the standard required. This was followed the year later when Alyn Waters joined the award winning parks closely followed by Nant Mill. Ponciau Banks received its Flag in 2010 following its refurbishment.
