Parents, carers and children gather at sector networking event
Families of children with disabilities and additional needs and those working in the care sector took part in an information and networking event at the Memorial Hall, Bodyhyfrd, Wrexham on Friday.
The event brought together over 20 organisations who work with children and young people with disabilities.
Organisations had the chance to put themselves forward and let attendees know about their work with a quick-fire introduction session shortly after the event was opened by Cllr John Pritchard, the Mayor of Wrexham.
Also in attendance were a number of family members, volunteers, carers and stakeholders, who were provided advice on the support available to them.
Those who attended also had the chance to network with other families and organisations, and were able to put forward their views on service provision and the course the sector could take in future.
The event was hosted by Wrexham Council’s Families First Team.
Cllr Michael Williams, Lead Member for Education and Children’s Services, said: “Families and carers of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs can often find themselves facing increased need or hardship, so it’s vitally important that events such as these take place and they have the opportunity to find information regarding support and care
“I’m glad to see so many attended this event, and I hope they are able to take advantage of the information provided to them during the networking event.”
