Want to be a Councillor?
Residents and people working in Wrexham over the age of 18 are invited to consider standing for election in the 2017 Local Government elections to be held on May 4.
The nomination process has now started and anyone considering standing should contact the Electoral Team at firstname.lastname@example.org telephone them on 01978 292020 to find out the next steps.
Nominations will be accepted from 9.00 am on 20 March and will close at 4.00 pm on Tuesday 4 April.
In all, 52 Councillors will be elected to represent 47 electoral wards and in the 2012 local government elections 132 individuals stood either independently or with party allegiance.
The Council is currently made up of 20 Independents, 12 Labour, 8 Wrexham Independents, 5 Conservatives, 5 Liberal Democrats and 2 Plaid Cymru councillors.
Councillors will be elected for a period of 5 years during which time they will be responsible for ensuring the provision of essential services to the people of Wrexham such as bin collections, social services, education and transport.
