Artists from across the region have submitted works for this year's Open Exhibition currently on show at Oriel Wrecsam in Wrexham's town centre.
The annual competition was open to artists, sculptors, painters, designers, craftmakers and architects and this year 118 artists submitted 254 works of art ranging from sculptures to paintings, photography and films. There were three categories of entry, amateur, professional and student and the winner for each category received a £250 prize.
There was no particular theme or subject the entrants had to stick to which meant a huge assortment of entries using different media were entered and now provide a very interesting and diverse exhibition.
Congratulations to the winners, Isobel Crawford, Amateur Prize Winner for her work We Are One Series Number 4. Nichola Goff, Professional Prize Winner for her work Abandoned Swimming Pool and Student prize Winner, Francois Grobler, for his Untitled V111 work.
Independent selector Steffan Jones-Hughes, said:
"The standard of entry was extremely high this year. It has been very difficult to make decisions on which pieces should be shown. I hope people will agree that my final selection for this year's Wrexham Open give a diverse flavour of creative activity taking place across the borough and beyond."
Visitors to Oriel Wrecsam also have an opportunity to vote for their particular favourite and a People's Prize of £250 will be awarded when the exhibition comes to a close in September.
Cllr Bob Dutton, OBE, Wrexham Council's Lead Member for Communities and Performance, said:
"The works are of an exceptionally high standard and it is well worth making the time during a visit to the town centre to take a look at the exhibition. Congratulations to each of the category winners and I wish them every success for the future."
The exhibition will continue until 2nd September and entry to Oriel Wrecsam is free. Opening times are Monday to Wednesday and Friday 9.30 am to 6.45 pm, Thursday 12.00 pm to 6.45 and Saturday 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.
