Plas Pentwyn Official Opening Celebration

Coedpoeth’s Olympic gold medallist Tom James will be the special guest at the Community Fun Day that is being held at Plas Pentwyn, Coedpoeth’s new Enterprise & Lifelong learning Centre, on Saturday 13th September to celebrate its official opening.

The fun starts at 10am and will include children’s fairground rides, face-painting, circus skills, Jolly Jungle, Techniquest, craft stalls and the opportunity to speak to community training providers. The renowned Welsh poet Dr Grahame Davies, who is from Coedpoeth and has written the book Real Wrexham, will be holding creative writing workshops and there will be an exhibition of the entries submitted by local schoolchildren for the Plas Pentwyn Logo Competition.

Nicola Millar, Plas Pentwyn’s Centre Development Officer said” We are very proud and honoured that Tom James has accepted our invitation to join us to celebrate the official opening of Plas Pentwyn, especially as he has not managed to get back home to Coedpoeth as yet. I would encourage the whole community to join us in welcoming Tom home and to celebrate his achievements as well as coming to see what Plas Pentwyn has to offer.”

Plas Pentwyn starts its community training calendar at the end of September and there will be an opportunity to talk to staff about the courses available and to book places.

Funding for Plas Pentwyn has come from the Urban II Programme, a community regeneration initiative focused on the development of an entrepreneurial and participating community. This Programme has been supported by the Economic Development Department of Wrexham Council, the Welsh Assembly’s Local Regeneration Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.
