Ruabon Train Station

Wrexham Council would like to advise all rail passengers travelling to or from Ruabon Train Station that from the 03 May 2011, for approximately three weeks, there will be a limited number of parking spaces available while improvement works to the existing car park are undertaken.

Wrexham Year of Culture 2011 Patrons Event

A Musical Theatre Master- class was held at The Catrin Finch Centre, Glyndwr University as part of Wrexham Year of Culture. West End composer and musical director Gareth Valentine took ten young aspiring singer/actors through their paces and gave them tips on how to improve their performances in the musical theatre genre.

Former Landfill Works to go Ahead at Alyn Waters

Wrexham Council has announced that work on the former landfill site in Llay which now forms part of the Alyn Waters Country park is necessary following extensive monitoring of the leachate levels on the site.

Postal voters urged to make their vote count

As over 15,000 postal voting packs start dropping through letter boxes across Wrexham and Clwyd South Constituencies, postal voters are being reminded to read the instructions carefully when casting their vote otherwise their vote might not be counted.

Wrexham launches 2013 Rugby League World Cup bid

Wrexham is launching a bid to host matches at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. 'Wrexham 2013 – Bringing Rugby League to Life’ will see the Racecourse Ground bid to host Rugby League World Cup games for the second time. The stadium previously hosted a group match between Wales and the Cook Islands in 2000.

Plas Madoc and Waterworld Health Suites to be Closed from 1st May

Wrexham Council has announced the closure of the health suites at Plas Madoc and Waterworld Leisure and Activity Centres from 1st May 2011. The closure affects the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room facilities at both sites. The move has been necessary due to financial challenges facing the Council however, Alan Watkin the Council's Chief Leisure, Libraries and Culture Officer has assured users that the overall service level at the Centre's gyms, pools and classes will remain the same.

Council and ambulance trust help drive supermarket scheme forward

Plans for a new supermarket – which could create around 350 jobs – are shifting up a gear thanks to Wrexham Council and the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Spring Year of Culture Programme Now Available

The second Wrexham Year of Culture programme has now been completed and is being distributed across the County Borough and beyond. This second programme will cover the months of April, May and June and is even bigger than the first, containing over 130 events!

Temporary Closure Gwyn Evans Leisure and Activity Centre

Wrexham Council would like to inform everyone that the swimming pool at Gwyn Evans Leisure and Activity Centre will be closed for immediate maintenance work until 4.30pm on 28/03/2011. Gwyn Evans Leisure and Activity Centre would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Community Gardens now complete in Johnstown

The creation of 30 Community Gardens for residents in Johnstown is now complete and work has started by local residents to mark out and start creating individual plots.

Lambpit Street cash office to close on 31st March

Residents are being reminded that the Lambpit Street Cash Office will close next Thursday, 31 March. Wrexham Council is encouraging all those who pay by cheque or cash to find an alternative method of payment, preferably direct debit, to pay their bills.

Your Museum Needs You!

Wrexham County Borough Museum and Archives is appealing for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. The Museum re-opened its doors to the public in February after a £2.2million renovation funded with assistance from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

World Book Night

Wrexham Library will be celebrating National World Book Night on Friday 4th March.  World Book Night is a celebration of books and reading and aims to encourage people to share their favourite books with friends and family.
