Chirk Station to get £1.2 million access funding

£1.2 million has been allocated to Chirk railway station is to improve its access. The funding was announced by the Department for Transport as part of increased investment to provide improved access to stations throughout the country.

Partnership takes on Empty Homes opportunity

Wrexham County Borough Council are working in partnership with a local housing association to provide an innovative scheme helping owners of empty homes in the County bring their properties back into use.

Local Government Revenue and Capital Settlement 2012-13

Wrexham County Borough Council received details of its settlement from the Welsh Government on Wednesday 7 December. An amount of £184m will be provided for Wrexham, a 1.2% increase on last year.

Festive Carols in the Park

Bellevue Park will be holding a carol concert from the bandstand on Thursday 15th December. The event starts at 5pm until 6pm.

Christmas Market Cancelled

It is with regret that organisers have had to cancel tomorrow's popular Christmas market in Wrexham town centre (Church Grounds and Church Street). This is due to the high winds of today which are expected to get worse tomorrow. As a result we cannot guarantee public safety. Please let family and friends know of this decision. Wrexham Council and the stall holders are naturally extremely disappointed but stress that the matter is beyond their control.

Ministry of Justice Telephone Scam

A Wrexham resident has been conned out of over £3000 by a caller saying he was from the Ministry of Justice and was told he was owed money as a result of mis-sold payment protection insurance.

Rail Passenger Numbers in Wrexham County Borough Continue to Rise

There are five stations in the County Borough, Wrexham General, Wrexham Central, Gwersyllt, Ruabon and Chirk and data from the Office of the Rail Regulator shows that all of them have shown an increase in rail journeys by an average of 49% since 2005.

If your green or black/blue bin was not emptied due to the industrial action on 30 November 2011 please note the following: On Wednesday 7 December 2011 the council will collect black/blue bins only. Recyclables will also be collected. Do not put out your green bin.
