Food for Thought

Rhosnesni High School in partnership with Wrexham School meals Catering Service will be piloting an initiative to help pupils' concentration levels during the schools final years exam period. Before every exam pupils will have the opportunity to eat seasonal fresh fruit, and a home made energy bar and drink a bottle of water.

The initiative started after Bernard Knowles Head teacher at Rhosnesni approached his school cook to look at ways in which he could ensure the pupils were nutritionally prepared and adequately rehydrated to help them cope with the pressure of exams. Mr Knowles hopes this initiative, the first in Wrexham, will be successful and helpful to the students and can be repeated in other schools.

Mr Knowles, said:

“Exam time can be a difficult time for students and we hope this initiative helps with concentration levels and enables students to approach their exam with confidence. I would also like to thank Barrs Soft Drinks with Strathmore water for their kind assistance with this project.
