Royal Welsh to receive Freedom of the County Borough
Soldiers from The Royal Welsh will be marching through the streets of Wrexham on Saturday 6th September to celebrate being granted the Honorary Freedom of the County Borough by the Council.
The Freedom confers on the Regiment the right to march through the streets of Wrexham on all ceremonial occasions with Colours flying, Bayonets fixed, Drums beating and Bands playing.
The parade will march from Hightown Barracks at 2.30 pm and arrive at Llwyn Isaf Green at approximately 3.00 pm. Their route will be along Kingsmills Road, Salop Road and Mount Street where they will be joined by members of the Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades' Association. They will then continue along Yorke Street, High Street, Hope Street, Argyll Street and Queens Square.
After forming up on Llwyn Isaf, The Mayor, Councillor David J Griffiths, will address and inspect the Parade and present a Freedom Scroll to the Colonel of the Regiment.
The Mayor said he was "delighted that such an honour was to be conferred on The Royal Welsh who, like their predecessors, especially the Royal Welch Fusiliers, give devoted service to our Sovereign and Country and this honour will reinforce the close bond between The Regiment and the County Borough "
