Ruabon Library has been getting into the festive spirit with the help of St Mary’s and Maes-y-Llan Primary Schools.
The pupils performed a variety of unusual Christmas carols that they had learnt especially for the occasion together with some old favourites.
Many members of the local community came down to watch the concert over a warm mince pie with all donations sent to Hope House Childrens Hospice.
The Christmas event marks the end of an eventful year for Ruabon Library with its official reopening in March following a £160,000 refurbishment project funded by the Welsh Government and the introduction of the first out of town Contact Wrexham facility.
The library boasts an improved stock including the latest bestsellers and dvds, a community exhibition area, free computer and internet access alongside a programme of community events throughout the year.
Ann Hughes, Community Librarian said:
“I’d like to thank the talented students who put on a great performance for us today. At Ruabon Library we are proud to work with local schools and community groups to host a range of events for all the family throughout the year.”
Cllr Bob Dutton OBE, Lead Member for Communities and Performance said:
“Wrexham Council has built new or refurbished a total of nine libraries since 2002 which represents three-quarters of the libraries in the borough. Ruabon Library is an excellent example of the pivotal role that libraries play in everyday community life and the current activity is a great start to Christmas celebrations.”
