School Transport

When making an application for a Secondary School place for September 2017, parents should consider whether they will be entitled to free school transport before they commit.

Parents who have already applied for school places are also advised to check school transport arrangements so as to prepare for September, if you have not already done so.

Transport is only available to children whose home address is more than three miles from their nearest suitable Secondary School, and whether or not pupils are eligible for transport is determined on that basis only.

There are no Feeder School arrangements for school transport purposes, as decisions will only be made based on distance – not which Junior School pupils previously attended. Attendance at a particular Junior School does not infer any entitlement to transport to a particular Secondary School, despite any traditional arrangements which might have been in place.

Ysgol Morgan Llwyd would be classed as the nearest suitable Secondary School for all students in Welsh Medium Education.

To confirm whether a child would be entitled to free transport and to reserve a seat, visit www.wrexham.gov.uk/ assets/ pdfs/ education/ school_transport/ itu_prem_sec_application.pdf and fill in and submit the form if you have not already applied.

To find which is the nearest suitable Secondary School to your home address, contact the School Transport Office on Tel. No. 01978 298996 or via e-mail school.transport@wrexham.gov.uk

Applications will be assessed as soon as possible, and parents will be promptly notified of whether or not their child is eligible for free school transport.

Parents who choose to place their child in a Secondary School which is not the nearest suitable school to their address will be responsible for arranging transport for their child, along with any associated costs.
