School Improvement Web Pages

Wrexham Council have added a new section to their website. The pages under Schools Improvement show how work is progressing on building and refurbishment works taking place around the county borough.

At the moment there are 6 schools that have information on them:

Darland in Rossett which is having a new science block and ICT rooms, Maelor School in Penley which is going to benefit from a new Sports Hall, Ysgol Bryn Alyn in Gwersyllt which will also have a new science block and IT Facility. Ysgol Rhosymedre will have its Juniors demolished and a brand new building put up. £4.5 million has been announced for a new school in Llay. Welsh Assembly funding has also just been announced for a new £5 million Welsh medium school in the Gwersyllt area. Over £35 million will be spent on the projects in the coming months.

John Davies, Wrexham Council's Chief Learning and Achievement Officer, said:

"Having schools that are fit for the 21st Century is very important to us and we do everything we can to secure funding and make resources available to be used for the benefit of schools. It is essential that we have school environments and buildings that will help pupils achieve their full potential. Schools are also an important part of the community and these web pages are an ideal way of keeping them informed of what's going on in their area."

The pages will be updated regularly and have photographs showing the progress of each project.
