Council Seeks Feedback from its TenantsWrexham Council has been seeking feedback from its housing tenants about the service it provides.
The authority’s Tenancy Support Service held an event at the Catrin Finch Centre where tenants could air their views and get guidance from staff.
The event was also attended by the Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Jim Kelly, who chatted with tenants over a tea and scones.
The service holds regular meetings with tenants to ask them what they think of Tenancy Support and also how the service can improve and develop to best suit their needs
Wrexham Council’s Tenancy Support Service provides free and discreet housing support to all vulnerable Wrexham County Borough Council Tenants who need help to successfully maintain their tenancy.
The service can help tenants sort out rent and bills, give you advice on managing financial affairs and claiming benefits. They can also advise on insurance and security information and keeping to the tenancy agreement.
Tenancy Support workers can offer advice on where to ask for expert advice on things like debt, mental health, drugs and alcohol, contacting Social Services or other support organisations.
Any tenant of Wrexham County Borough Council with support needs can have tenancy support. This includes:
Tenants can apply for support by filling in a form online, contacting their local housing office or by emailing housing@wrexham.gov.uk.
Cllr Mark Pritchard, Lead Member for Housing and Planning said:
“Some people find it difficult to manage their tenancy because they are first time tenants; however some existing tenants also struggle to cope. Wrexham Council has a duty to offer support and advice to its tenants and this is where the Tenancy Support Service comes in.
“Events like these, where tenants can air their views and speak to staff face to face, are important. They allow tenants to give us vital feedback which can be used to improve our service.”
