Stop Talking and Get Walking!Ever feel like you’ve got no time to exercise? Why not take advantage of the improving weather to take a brisk walk at lunchtime? Wrexham County Borough Council and Walkabout Wrexham managed by Groundwork Wrexham & Flintshire have launched Urbanwalks – a scheme to help people achieve the recommended 30 minutes of physical activity at least 5 days per week. A brisk walk at lunchtime makes you feel good, increases your fitness level, may help you to lose weight, and can reduce stress.
Urbanwalks is a leaflet that contains six walk routes around Wrexham industrial estate that can be completed independently in less than 30 minutes. This enables the walks to be completed at lunchtime.
There are 4 leaflets aimed at people who work in or surrounding the Wrexham Town Centre, Wrexham Industrial Estate, the Maelor Hospital and Technology Park but can also be used by visitors. Each leaflet has six walk routes that can be completed independently in less than 30 minutes.
If you don’t want to go it alone, come to one of our group walks that will be running in the Town Centre from different locations each lunchtime at 12:30pm throughout the week starting 31st July 2006. Anyone attending a group walk during this week will be put in a draw to win one of 20 Pedometers we are giving away!
