Wrexham's got the power to fight climate change!

PeoplePowerWrexham.org

We feel passionately about doing our bit to help reverse the effects of climate change at Wrexham Council. That’s why we’ve made ‘reducing C02 emissions and energy use’ one of our top three Council priorities.

We are aiming to significantly reduce our own carbon footprint and we’re hoping to encourage you to do the same because we believe that if we all make changes, we can make a difference.

We’ve been working very closely with the Carbon Trust Wales to put together a robust energy policy to help us be a leading organisation in this area. As well as providing environmental benefits, saving energy will also help us to save money and limit the impact that rising energy costs could have on the services that we provide.

We’re putting our own house in order and already have a number of projects underway including fitting energy efficient street lights in residential areas, Replacing old inefficient boilers in our buildings with more energy efficient models, Installing the latest energy efficient equipment to heat and power our leisure centres, Improving the energy efficiency of our primary and secondary schools and Investigating how we could produce and use renewable energy.

Now we want to ask each and every person in Wrexham to join in, make a pledge and look at ways that you can reduce your own carbon footprint and help preserve our planet for future generations? Every action, no matter how small or where it is taken will make a difference.

By taking action together, we have the Power to make a difference.

The People Power climate change campaign has been launched by Wrexham County Borough Council with the aim of drastically reducing the County Borough's overall energy consumption, while saving people a few quid off their bills at the same time.

For the initial pilot phase of the People Power campaign, we're focusing on taking our message to schools and a local community through some brilliant events, presentations and workshops, and council staff will also be pledging to do some climate hero actions.
