A partnership between Wrexham County Borough Council – Adult Social Care, The Welsh College of Horticulture, Groundworks Trust, Independent Charity for the Victorian Walled Garden and Wrexham County Forum for Learning Disabilities.
The Erlas Garden Project provides accredited training and work in Horticulture and Garden Maintenance. Development of the Victorian Walled Gardens is ongoing.
We provide work experiences in horticulture and garden restoration work, including landscaping, hedge cutting, hedge trimming, vegetable growing and flower planting. Income is generated through work activities, both on the site and in the community. Our services include:
Our goal is that the whole project will provide an environment for many people to gain skills and confidence enabling them to take up employment (either voluntary or paid) in gardening. We also see the site and gardens as making a contribution to the wider community. The restoration and rebuilding of the walls, buildings and greenhouses are complete to a high standard offering disabled toilets and education suite. Opening the site to the public as an educational, cultural and recreational amenity is our eventual aim.
